Night sweats?

I don%26#039;t know what is causing this. It%26#039;s not really a night sweat, as I don%26#039;t really get sweaty, just really really hot. I%26#039;m 26 and it has happened as long as I can remember...so it%26#039;s not related to menopause. When I wake up at night, suddenly I%26#039;ll get a wave of heat over me. I know it%26#039;s not just perceived because my husband complains about the heat I%26#039;m radiating too. Does anybody else have this happen? Why does it happen?

Although uncomfortable, nighttime sweating typically isn%26#039;t a sign of a serious underlying medical condition. It may be triggered by something as simple as too warm a room or too many blankets on the bed. Potential medical causes of night sweats include:





Menopause


Anxiety


Medications such as certain high blood pressure drugs, over-the-counter fever reducers and antipsychotics


Drug or alcohol abuse


Gastrointestinal reflux disease (GERD)


Diabetes


See your doctor if night sweats occur on a regular basis and interrupt your sleep. Treatment is directed at the underlying cause, if it can be determined. Occasionally, night sweats are a symptom of a serious condition, such as cancer or infection. But in such cases, night sweats are often accompanied by other signs and symptoms, such as fever and unexplained weight loss.

you could still be low on part of your hormones, we have lots of them and if one is out of whack....also certain medications and even vitamins can cause this. Spicy food may also be a factor. Allergies of any kind can raise your core temperature. I have slept with a really good thread count sheet . It keeps you cooler having one vs. not because the sheets always tend to be cooler on your skin. also, taking a warm shower right before bed always makes me warm initially but then cools me off as the night goes on. good luck to you!
Reply:Estrogen actually causes it and it%26#039;s usually caused by a fluctuation of hormones in your sleep. (Sounds funny I know) If your on birth control and have been on the same one for some time it maybe your culprit. According to my Doctor.





I%26#039;m 34 and have the exact same problem. I have now changed my birth control. I never had this problem until I switched birth control. I was taking Yasmin and I went back on my old faithful Loestrin 1.5.
Reply:I%26#039;m 23 and this has happened to me ever since I was a teenager. It%26#039;s even so bad that it discolors my sheets and pillow case. My husband calls me a furnace. I find that it is worse during my period too.





I%26#039;ve recently changed my diet in an attempt to lose weight, and the night sweats have actually subsided. Mainly, I%26#039;ve cut out all %26quot;bad%26quot; foods (fast food, regular soda etc..) the biggest difference, however, is that I%26#039;m eating whole wheat everything and fat free everything. I%26#039;m not sure if their connected at all, but I sleep better because I%26#039;m not having to get up in the middle of the night and change my clothes.





Let me know if you find anything that works for you because I might hijack the idea.
Reply:I started having the same problem when I hit puberty. It took me until I was 19 to figure out it was my diet. The doctors say that I am also going through early menopause as all the women in my family did before they were 30 and had to have hysterectomys. I am 28 and the hot flashes are no where near like they used to be with the healthy diet change but they are still there. I cut out the processed sugars, high salt foods, and fried foods. That did it for me.
