Allergic to someone else's Sweat??

I think I saw something like it on Oprah when Dr. Oz was on, where a women was allergic to her husband's sweat. I was wondering why/how it happens, becuase lately I think I'm allergic to my bf sweat...

I watched that show too. I remember he said that it wasn't necessarily the sweat (contains acids, body oils, salts, ammonia, enzymes) but the bacteria that was naturally on the underarms that combined with the sweat that secreted from his pores.

The bacteria was the main culprit for the woman having a reaction towards his body odor. Sweat doesn't smell until it combines with the bacteria. So bacteria + sweat = Nasty smell and staining on clothes.

She wasn't allergic but couldn't stand the smell. She just used that word to express that she couldn't deal with the smell in her bed, on her, and in the laundry. Some sunblocks can cause a stinging sensation when you sweat, so if he uses any make sure he switches to something chemical-free.

Food and some deoderants make the smell worse. Topical anti-biotics help but know that it never goes away. Diets can help moderate it (keep him away from stuff like garlic, it only makes it worse). Also, botox can be injected under the armpits ($$$$$$$) that helps to stop excessive sweat. He should try to wash his armpits at least twice a day (or shower at least twice a day). Frequent washing kills the bacteria. He should wear all-cotton which lets skin breath and helps to reduce excessive sweating. Armpits are notorious areas for sweat odor.

There is actually a rare sweat-related disease that emits a fish odor. It's called Trimethylamineuria. There is no way to completely get rid of it but it can be moderated through diet. Just be glad he doesn't have this! He'll clear you out of the room!

Well, don't go near him when he's sweaty. Everyone has a different chemical balance and maybe yours don't react well together.
Reply:Strange...I have no idea.
Reply:you might be allergic to the soap he uses, I'm allergic to Irish springs and my husband likes it, I don't have a problem being near him unless he's sweaty. Weird, Hmmm
