Children who do not sweat..??

my two oldest do not sweat, they get extremely hot and nothing, their faces turn more than red and get puffy, but no sweat! you can feel a ton of heat coming off them and it looks like a bad sunburn .....my pediatrician just said force liquids...isnt there anything that can be done medically to help?

its dangerous for people to overheat,ESPECIALL in this weather!!! anyone ever heard of this?

I am far from being qualified to make any medical judgements but you asked if anyone has ever heard of that.I work at a deaf and blind school as an aid.We have some very ill children there. As I understand, some of them have compromised glandular problems and are unable to sweat. All I know for sure is that it's important we do not let them get too hot or they could convulse. Not to scare you or anything, but might be important enough to see a specialist or another Dr.There might not be a serious problem but I would have it checked out.

Sounds dangerous if they overheat. Have they seen someone about it?
Reply:You don't mention ages..........

Children sweat far less than adults.

You don't mention what they have been doing......

Get them to sit quietly in the shade for a while, perhaps with a wet cloth on the back of their neck and have a cool drink, water is best!
Reply:Just make them bring a bottle of water to squirt over the face and neck. As children they dont have too much sweat.
Reply:I am sixteen years old and i have anorexia. because i have messed up my body so much i also have the same problem. when i go outside with my sister to play soccer, my face gets very red and i am burning up, but i have no sweat. they may have a problem with their sweat glands. take them to a different pediatritian. it can be dangerous. until then make sure they are hydrated. good luck. i wish you the best.
